Dillon

Dillon -- Panasonic G1 with Bausch & Lomb 26mm f1.9 Cine Lens. Larger Picture.

Today I found and bought a spare charger and battery for the 5D. Still need to get the camera fixed, but in the mean time, I can use manual focus lenses on it so it's not urgent.

  1. just wondering, do legacy lenses have any metering issues with the 5D?

My 10D would not give consistent results between aperture settings on my OM lenses, but my older 630 was no problem. I wonder if different screens are more or less problematic? I have technical screen e in my 630

  2. I had metering issues with 10D, 20D and 30D. Basically as the lens is stopped down, I had to use about one -stop for full EV. The 1D, 1D II, 1Ds and 5D that I have used didn't seem to have much of a problem, although small variation did exist but not to the degree of the xxD series where over exposure was a big problem when the lens is stopped down.

The screen didn't seem to matter. I had the stock matt screen for the 1-series as well as the cross-split (EC-L) and the exposures were quite consistent. Currently I have an EE-S screen on the 5D. Haven't tried other screen on it so not sure if they have an effect on exposure. My guess is not.

  3. An update to my reply. I read in a Chinese forum that the 5D's EE-S screen makes the exposure less of a problem than the stock screen. I don't know why that is. That could explain why I don't seem to have exposure problems on my 5D.
