Canon Digital Rebel T2i - Kit Lens Sample

Old & New -- Canon T2i & 18-55mm IS kit lens at f9.

The original kit lens that came with the Digital Rebel 300D was a dog. Very bad lens. Version II of the non-IS kit lens improved markedly. This IS version that came with my T2i is an excellent performer. I would rate it as good as the Panasonic G1 kit lens, and the IS is just as effective. It's a bargain for $100.

  4. @Jingyi,

I haven't used either lens extensively to give them a fair assessment, but I can say that the obvious advantage of the 19-35mm lens is 2/3 of a stop faster than the kit lens. The 19-35mm is probably a bit sharper as well. There is a lot more glass on it than the kit lens -- 77mm front element vs 58mm, though not the measurement of quality, but it's a lot better built.
